Meghan's Senior Portraits--Outer Banks, NC--Northeastern NC Photographer

Meet Meghan. She's a 2014 senior at one of the local high schools and was just crowned homecoming queen! (Funny thing is...her shoot was the day before the homecoming and never once did she mention that she was even part of the homecoming court....She's one humble chic...and that just makes me love her even more!!) Meghan is a surfer chic, multi sport playin', outdoorsy kinda gal. After talking with both Meghan and her mom, Sharon, we knew exactly what direction we wanted her session to go in. They both really wanted Meghan's senior portraits to showcase exactly who she is right now and be taken in an environment that she feels the most at home at. (Which is the exact reason why I love these kind of sessions!!) We traveled to three different locations (all within 3 miles of each other) and it could not have turned out more perfect. Meghan has such a gentle soul and a bright vibrant smile. I have no doubt that this sweet girl will excel at whatever path she ventures down. Enjoy some of my favorites from her session below.

Daniel and Carrie's Engagement Session--Elizabeth City, NC--Northeastern NC Photographer

Daniel is my oldest cousin (only by 8 months....but he's still older) and we grew up together. As babies we flipped over strollers, as kids we spent every summer vacation down at the OBX together and as adults we ended up living in the same town all these years later. Needless to say, he's pretty special to me....He's family. He is getting married to a sweet, easy going and gorgeous girl named Carrie. She had a clear idea of what she wanted out of her engagement session (p.s. I LOVE that) including locations already picked out. Most of the time, locations are only a small factor in your session but when the location is special to you, then it plays a much bigger factor. One of the locations was her late grandfather's garage. They had a pretty special connection so it was important to her to have some of the session take place there. I wish these two all the happiness in the world as they tie the knot next year! Enjoy some of my favorites from the session...featured below.

Seniorologie Shootout--Charleston, SC--Northeastern NC Photographer

I am a HUGE fan of the website Seniorologie (which is the study of taking senior portraits). I was BEYOND excited when I found out they would be hosting a workshop in Charleston, SC. (I had always said that if they ever came within one day's driving distance to NC, I was so there!) The moment the date/location was posted, I called the hubs and said "We're going to SC!!". The creator of Seniorologie, Leslie H. Kerrigan, is seriously the sweetest, most energetic, approachable person I've ever met. Leslie and Courtney DeLaura (who is equally fabulous) teamed up to teach all about how to rock senior sessions and they put together two fabulous shoots for us (one Lookbook shoot and another high fashion themed shoot). My favorite of the two shoots is what is shown below, it is a loose interpretation of "Alice in Wonderland" featuring "The Red Queen", "The Mad Hatter", "Alice" and "The Rabbit". All of the models were local Charleston seniors and they all had professional hair and makeup done on location. I had SO much fun! I met a lot of new photographer friends and left totally inspired. The sky is the limit.
